MarEngr. Mohammed Abul Kashem was in a Muslim family in Guapanchak village of Bairag union of Anwara Upazila in Chattogram.

From childhood he was possessed keen talent, has been a scholar from his primary education.

After completion his primary education with a scholarship, he was admitted to “Chaturi Bohumuki High School” in Anowara.

In 1976, he has passed SSC in 1st division (Science) with scholarship.

In 1978, he has passed HSC in 1st division (Science) from Chattogram College with scholarship.

In 1980, he has successfully completed Pre-Sea Engineering Cadet course from Bangladesh Marine Academy (BMA 15th Batch), Chattogram.

In 1987, he has obtained Marine Class-1 (Engineering) Certificate in Competency UK.

MarEngr. M. A. Kashem is the Founder & Chairman of MAS Group, and MAS Marine Academy, Chattogram, is an educator, a social contributor, a successful personality, known as a pioneer in the marine community of Bangladesh.  As his social responsibility, he is serving as the President of management committee of “Guapanchak High School” and a Donor Member of “Chatri Bhumukhi High School” at his native place.

He has worked as a Marine Chief Engineer for more than 5 years in various foreign going ships.

He has also worked as a Technical Superintendent in ‘Nishan Shipping Lines Limited, Bangladesh’ for about 5 years.

He was also a visiting lecturer of “Bangladesh Marine Academy (BMA), Chattogram” totaling about 14 years of teaching experience in maritime educational & training institutions. Presently, MarEngr M. A. Kashem is in helm of “MAS Marine Academy, Chattogram” as the Principal, in addition to his other responsibilities in MAS Group, Chattogram.

Since his early life, MarEngr Mohammed Abul Kashem has been working in various social & economic developments, in his native place and where ever it was needed, with devotion & dedication.  In 2000, he has founded the “Marine Agency Services (MAS)”, a seafarer recruiting & placement agency, which is now well-known as one of the reputed and well-established organizations in Bangladesh. In 2013, another seafarer recruiting & placement agency “Seafarers Placement Services (SPS)” was opened by him, which continues to be on a successful journey. 

In 2006, he was highly praised by DG Shipping, Dhaka, for playing an immense role in the incredible success and development of private marine academy in the country through the establishment of “MAS Marine Academy, Chattogram”.

Also some of his socio-social development activities are noteworthy, as in 2007, he established “Hazrat Sumaiya (RA) Dakhil Madrasa” in his area, where the poor, helpless students are getting free education.

In 2010, He established the ship breaking company “M/S Marine Spares Parts Ltd” in Chattogram.

In 2012, he established “The College of Dentistry” and a “Medical Diagnostic Center” in Halishahar, Chattogram.

In 2021, he established “MAS Marine Technical Training Institute” under Bangladesh Technical Education Board, which was conducting basic trade courses.

In 2022, under the Bangladesh Board of Technical Education, took the initiative to establish “MAS Science and Technology Institute” for Diploma in various Engineering Courses. In 2019, he has founded on his father’s name “Abdul Jalil Free Friday Clinic” thinking about the poor and helpless people in his native area, where more than seven thousand people have received free medical care from this clinic since established, which is very well praise worthy.
